On 14th July, the school celebrated French Day in honour of the National Day of France, also known as Bastille Day. It commemorates the falling of the Bastille tower, an important day in the history of the French Revolution.

We had activities that lasted for a week. The celebrations began with the decorating of the Secondary section with the colours of the French flag- blue, white and red. The students of Grades 6 to 8 made streamers, wall hangings and cut-outs to decorate the Secondary section corridors.

An Inter-grade Art competition was also organised titled “My favourite French monument.” The competition received an enthusiastic response with some exceptionally beautiful sketches and drawings. The winners from Grades 6 to 8 were – Master Vyom Jeevanathan (Grade 7), Miss Azriel Watts (Grade 6), Master Davin D’souza (Grade 8) and Master Liam Carvalho (Grade 7). The winner from Grade 9 and 10 was Miss Mayrah D’costa (Grade 9). We displayed some of the drawings/sketches during the week.

We also organised a French singing competition, wherein students had to send in videos of themselves singing in French. We had Miss Shruti D’silva (Grade 10) in first place followed by Miss Mayrah D’costa (Grade 9) wining second place and Master Rehaan Pereira (Grade 6) in third place.

On 14th July, the School Assembly was conducted entirely in French by students from Grades 8 to 10, the Assembly was widely appreciated by all.

Throughout the week, there were a variety of activities planned for the students of each Grade. In Grade 6, students watched animated films while students of Grades 7 and 8 participated in puzzles and word search activities. The students of Grades 9and 10 watched short dubbed films and songs.

The students got a glimpse of French cuisine through various French snacks and desserts such as macarons, madeleines and pain au chocolat.  Last but not the least, we also installed a Photo booth where students could take pictures with different props against a backdrop made by Miss Megyn Mangel (Grade 6)

Thus, by the end of the week, the students had got a closer insight into French culture while enjoying themselves at the same time.
