Woodrow Wilson had once said, ‘We cannot be separated in interest or divided in purpose. We
stand together till the end.’
While the context for his statement might have been very different, it is the sentiment behind it, the
intention that precedes it and the conviction along with it that have been borrowed for our theme
this year at St. Stanislaus International School.
We are witnesses to this emotion. The lessons we have learned over the years, is that shared
challenges cannot be faced alone. Partnership is key. In a time of crisis, the world has stood unitedly.
Not for war, but for humanity. For hope. A hope for a better world that transcends border, colour
and faith. May these doors of solidarity and collaboration continue to remain open.
It is ironical that the valuable things in life are freely available. Yet there is a value only on what is
paid for. And while the Earth has never failed in reminding us that self-preservation is the first law of
nature, it took a thorn of experience to heed the wilderness of warning.
So, let us be responsible. Let us be reliable. Let us be resolute. Let us work together, as one people,
towards a better world. A better world for all beings and species. Only then can we emerge stronger
than ever before. This begins with each of us. We can be the change we wish to see in this world.
Our actions today determine our fate. We owe it to the Earth, to our future and to each other.
We are One World, One People. We hold One Vision and harbour One Hope.
