Global Climate Strike: Fridays For Future
Date: 3 March 2023
“Protecting our planet isn’t an obligation – it’s a chance to create a brighter future for everyone!”
Our students are the future and so, a safe, sustainable and liveable Earth is their right. To safeguard this, it is imperative to empower them with strategies in spreading climate awareness and sensitisation.
The management and staff of St Stanislaus International School, Bandra, Mumbai along with the Fridays For Future (Mumbai) Team gave our students of grades 7, 8 and 9 a platform to express themselves on the existing current crisis.
On 3 March 2023 our students joined the Fridays For Future movement as part of a Global Climate Strike. They were introduced to the objective of the movement through a quiz, discussion and short video by Greta Thunberg and George Monbiot captioned ‘A #NatureNow message from Greta Thunberg’. This was followed by a group activity wherein, students reflected up, and shared their experiences on the impacts of climate change in their lives and the lives of people they cared about. They then went on to suggest actionable and sustainable strategies that they can carry out at an individual and school level, along with, suggestions that they can give elders and the government to battle the ongoing climate crisis. The students then voiced themselves through creative posters and by chanting slogans as they moved through St Peter’s square in the school campus. The event closed with a group photograph.
