14th July is celebrated as the French National day or Bastille Day. To celebrate this special day, the school organises every year, a French Day program to celebrate all things French-related, with activities, quizzes, songs and poster making competitions.
This year however due to the lockdown, we were unable to celebrate, as we used to and decided to do something different. We organised a French essay writing competition for our students of Grades 9 and 10. The topic was “ How I spent my summer holidays in lockdown”. The objective was to encourage creativity and to give our budding writers a chance to express themselves.
The competition received a fantastic response and choosing the best essays was not easy. After much deliberation, we selected Stacey Viegas from Grade 10 and Jaden Crasto, Akshita Vyas and Simrat Bains from Grade 9 as the winners. The winners also found a mention in the Times NIE, a newspaper for students
The students were thrilled to have won the first ever French essay writing competition. After seeing the enthusiasm of our students, we plan to make the essay writing competition, a regular feature of our French day celebrations as we, at St. Stanislaus International, always encourage creativity amongst our students.
